I habe nur eine kurze frage wegen meine Astro. Letzte woche gehort ich ein laut schall wie mein auspuff hat gefallen. Ich glaube jetzt das die Wandlergetriebe ist kaputt und moechte ein garage finden das kann es reparieren.
Weiss jemand ob ein US autogetriebe specialist in der nahe von Muenchen ist ? Ich denke das die empfehlen von andere Chevy autofahreren ist immer das beste.

pls. try to describe what happened to the exhaust and your gearbox a bit more detailed.
And it is highly appreciated to have a signature with the Astro's details, so help can be more specific

Sorry for writing English but I can perhaps better explain it this way.
I suspect the problem is the torque converter (drehmomentwandler ?). It happened last week after a 100km drive. When it's in 1st gear it seems fine, no noises and drives ok. As soon as 2nd gear is selected one can hear a metallic noise which sounds like the exhaust is scraping along the road under the van. In 2nd gear I still have drive but after a few seconds it's very noisy. :?
I cannot decide the best action. Do I replace the gearbox completely with a newly rebuilt one, rebuild the existing one, buy a 4L65E or 4L80E because they are stronger (but I don't know if either is compatible) or put in another old gearbox which works just to get me by for now ? I'd likely have to replace it again soon though. :roll:
In fact, I can't really be sure it's the torque converter at all. I'm spending alot of time trying to find information on this problem because I know ZILCH about gearboxes. :cry:
If anybody can help confirm my initial theory that would be very helpful. If anyone has other suggestions I'd love to hear them.
